šŸŒ 🌐 šŸ•ø Tim Berners-Lee and the Magic of the World Wide Web: 35 Years On

Updated: Feb 20

The World Wide Web (WWW)Ā is a revolutionary system for sharing content and information over the internet. Imagine the magic 35 years ago when people could access all kinds of content instantly across different countries. In a brilliant move, the web was released to the public, allowing everyone to contribute to its growth. This open approach led to its rapid and widespread adoption worldwide.

Let us celebrate Sir Tim Berners-Lee’sĀ 1989 invention at CERN. Born to parents who were both mathematicians and early computer scientists, Tim studied Physics at Oxford, where he built his first computer. As a true advocate for an open web, he made the bold decision to release the source code for free. During the 2012 Olympics, he sent out an iconic tweet: ā€œThis is for everyone.ā€

To this day, Berners-Lee’s first websiteĀ is still accessible: info.cern.ch.

Let’s celebrate the World Wide Web, a brilliant idea that continues to transform humanity’s connection to information. This is for everyone.Ā :)
